Do you know...
…that December 25 is not the real birthday of Jesus?
No
one
knows for sure exactly when Jesus was born, but according
to the Holy book, the shepherds were out with the sheep, it was
probably during a warmer season. Even in this part of the world,
it is too cold to sleep outside during the Winter.
It was during approximately 200 a.c. that the christians started to
celebrate the birth of Jesus, but at this time it was January 6th.
The 25th of December was at that time the day when the Romans
celebrated the day of the sun and the
lengthening again of the days.
During
the years of 300 the Christinas moved the holiday to the
25th of December to make it a proper Christian holiday.
As
time went by, the old tradition with celebrating the sun was
forgotten, but some old traditions from that time are still alive.
The tradition of bringing a Christmas tree to our homes is from
the anxient times, and has nothing to do with our Christian
tradition, but it still is common in cultures.
