International Womens Day

~ INTERNATIONAL WOMEN´S DAY MARCH 8 ~

This important day has brought the opportunity to women all over the world to bring their messages, but it doesn't  mean that women have reach equality with men, far from that, and there are so much more to be done, but with this day it has become easier for women to make themselves heard.
We can never forget that a lot of women in the world still have a long way to go.

The International Women´s Day started at a socialist women's convent in Copenhagen in 1910, and the day is celebrated March 8.
From the beginning the day was working for the female right to vote.
In 1977 The UN recommended the day for celebrating. In 1980 UN made the day as the International Womens Day.
During World War 2 the day was forbidden in nazi-, and fascist countries.

March 8, 1945 women gathered in Albert Hall, London, for a meating, and after that day the International Womens Day has changed to what it is today.
March 8, 1969, this day was celebrated by American feminists at Berkley, USA, and came to Sweden in 1972, when the first open meeting took place.

Peace and international solidarity is important issues for the movement.

"Love not me for comely grace, For my pleasing eye or face, Nor for any outward part:
No, nor for a constant heart! For these may fail or turn to ill: Should thou and I sever.
Keep, therefore, a true woman's eye, And love me still, but know not why!
So hast thou the same reason still To dote upon me ever."
