Alfred Nobel
Nobel, Alfred, 1833-96, chemist, inventor and donor.
He grew up in Saint Petersburg (Russia), and spent  time in the beginning of 1850 in Paris and USA.

Explosive factory; Alfred Nobel began in 1860 to work in a laboratory  that his father had outside Stockholm. There he experimented with how to make to do the thecnic safer and more  controllable. In the year of 1863 he got his very first patents on gunpowder for "his ways to prepare gunpowder to as well bursting that shooting"

Year 1864 it was an accident in the laboratory and five persons was killed among them his brother Emil. Alfred founded the factory Nitroglycerine LTD outside of Stockholm in 1864 and the following year  in Hamburg came the first foreign factory. Still existed big risks with the nitroglycerin, he worked insistently further on to do the explose more safe. Nobel succeded represent dynamite 1866. It was simple and relatively safe to handle,and became later the main product in his international factorys.

From 1873 he was residing in Paris but moved 1890, after some problems with the authorities, he went to San Remo in Italy. In 1893 bought he stock majority in LTD Bofors Gullspång, there he modernised and developed its weapon factory.

Nobel died in his home in San Remo December 10, 1896. The big fortune he created through was placed in a fund, which every year is to be given in shape of a lot of money to them that has "done the humanity the biggest use"

Allaccording to his last will by the "Nobelstiftelsen."
The Nobel price started in 1901 and the amont was at that time 
150 800 SEK[Swedish crowns.) In 1998 the number was 7,6 milj. SEK.

The distribution of prizes takes place in Stockholm and Oslo (Norway, peace prize) on Alfred Nobels day of death 10 december.
