Västerhavet...

After living at the West coast of Sweden since 1988, I am still fascinated by the ocean, the incredible feeling it fills me with to look out over the always changing water, to see the change of the seasons,  the difference on the sea that is called Västerhavet, West Sea.

Skagerrak: Pronounced As: skagrak, strait, c.150 mi (240 km) long and 85 mi (140 km) wide, between Norway and Denmark, linking the North Sea and the Baltic Sea by way of the Kattegat. It is shallow on the Danish shore  and deepens  toward the Norwegian coast.
I enjoy very much to sit on the rocks, just watching the boats go by, and I love all the changes of the sea, - everyday is a new picture... No day is another alike.

"Swans, fishes and stone
Are like the sunshine,
Sunshine, fishes and water,
Are the only real treasure"
Written by my son John at the age of six.

The lighthouse Vinga, est.: 1890, made from granite This impressive grey stone tower is located on the island of Vinga,  which is 10 nautical miles west of Göteborg. This light is the first one visible when entering Göteborg Harbor from the North Sea. Situated next to the light tower is a distinctive red pyramidal shaped signal building which was used before the lighthouse was built to pass information to the mainland regarding incoming vessels.  The island was also the home of Evert Taube, a famous Swedish poet.  A museum is now located in the house where he lived.

I don´t think any season is better than the other when it comes to the experience of beauty, the sence of freedom the sea gives. To take a walk along the shore, maybe find a nice thing which really is trash, but fills me with happiness just to be alive, that´s what I  love most  with the sea, it´s always there, but for each time I walk along the beach, it´s like a new picture, a new experience everytime I look through my window, - this ocean which I love so much!

 Thanks a lot, Therese!
