Sweet Tulip Awards

The tulip is the most popular cut flower in Sweden.
Between January and April we buy 120 million tulips in
this country, wich means about one million tulips a day!

There is about 6000 registered tulip sorts in the World.
The names of the tulips is registrated in a special name committé,
The Commission of Tulip names, in Holland, which is the homeland of the tulips.
In Sweden we can chose between 250 different kinds,
but new kinds is coming every year.
Itīs a kind of fashion also about tulips, about their color and shape.
The most popular is the yellow, double Monte Carlo.

My own favorite color is the soft pink tulip!
Which is yours?
Red: love and passion
Pink: elegance and beauty
Orange: dynamic and energy
Yellow: Kindness and sunny joy
Blue: Peace and quiet
Purple: Creativity and eccentricity
White: purity, innocence and peace

It is beautiful with big bouqets, and also to mix tulips
with other cut flowers from the garden.
A very nice Spring bouqet is with tulips and marguerits.
If you make a mixed bouqet, make sure you put the tulips shorter
than the others, because they grows fast, and the bouqet
will be even with the other flowers.

How to take care of your tulips!
Make a new cut on the bouqet and put it in a vas with cold water.
Leave the wrapping on for straight flower stems and for the tulips
to manage the change of temperature.
After one hour you can arrange the tulips as you like.
Itīs a good idea to put the flowers cooler at night, it will last much longer.
The tulips grows fast and if you think they are too long, you can cut them again.
